Thank You God for a Really Great Summer!

Our final day of Camp for summer 2017 is over. We are so thankful for all of the fun and learning that happened this summer, and we are grateful for all of the opportunities to grow close to God that this summer presented.

Our closing rally today featured prizes for the Polar Dip and fishing, as well as a video show of the week, a final message from our speaker Nate Miller, and a love offering for Source of Life Camp in Ukraine. We had the biggest offering of the summer today, and we are already amazed at all of the ways that God is going to use those gifts to grow his Kingdom.

It has been an amazing summer, and we are so excited for what God is going to do at Camp Lebanon this fall and next summer. THANK YOU GOD FOR A REALLY GREAT SUMMER!

Hop-Scotch, Calzones, and Campfires!

Our last full day of Junior High Camp for the summer started with a wonderful extra hour of sleep. After the Polar Dip and enjoying some tasty breakfast sandwiches, we headed into our final split chapel for the summer. Today, the girls talked about Standing up for Your Sister, and the guys talked about Work. We are so thankful for the conversations and revelations that have come out of morning chapels this summer.

After chapel, we had a little bit of Canteen time, and then lunch. After lunch and a last fun mail-call skit, we had our final session of Clinics and Seminars. Clinics and Seminars have also taught us a lot this summer; we are sad that they’re over, but we’re thankful for all that was taught and learned through them this year.

Next, it was Free Time! Today, Free Time featured swimming, crafts, a game of Mafia, the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline, and a ton of other games. Some campers even made a Hop-Scotch course going all the way from New Zealand cabin to the bell tower! It was a great time to be goofy and have fun with all the friends that we made this week.

We had dinner after Free Time, and tonight was everyone’s favorite meal: calzones! We love these delightful giant pizza pockets. After dinner was our final evening chapel with our speaker Kirsten King. Tonight she wrapped up her message from the week, using more fun stories that were saturated with truth. We loved having Kirsten here this week.

Now, the campers are having some final discussion time about chapel. Then, we’ll have some Canteen time and get ready for our final Junior High campfire of the year. Even though it rained earlier, the weather turned our perfect for a fire tonight. We are going to enjoy our last night together!

Thank You God for a Great SuperKids 3!

Super Kids 3 came to a close this morning after a wonderful week. Even though it was raining at Camp, we still ended the week on a high note with a wonderful closing rally inside.

During the closing rally, we watched the video show of the week, sang some of our favorite worship songs, took an offering for Source of Life Camp in Ukraine, and we heard a final message from our speaker Frank Lanier. We have learned so much from Frank this week! We also celebrated another session of LIT graduates, and together we prayed for some of our summer staff members that are departing from us today.

We had a wonderful week here with this crazy group of Super Kids, and we are excited to see them all back here next year! Thank you God for a really great week!

A Day of Significance

What a great last day of Camp! Today was significant for many reasons, and we all soaked up our last day together as much as we could. The day started with an extra hour of sleep, followed by breakfast in bed! Then, we had more time to spend alone with God to read the Bible and pray. After that, we had our final session of clinics and seminars. It was a fairly relaxed morning.

Next, we had our last morning chapel. Today, the women talked about Sin, Shame, and Forgiveness and the men talked about Work. We are thankful for everything that we’ve learned in morning chapel this week and for the sweet worship and discussions that were had during that time this week.

After lunch and Mail Call, it was our last Free Time! Today, Free Time featured paintball, swimming, crafts, and towards the end, everyone spent time getting ready for dinner. Dinner tonight was formal themed; everyone dressed their best and we ate the fanciest, most delicious meal of the week. It’s fun to see everyone dressed up, and formal night is always a great time of fellowship and fun!

Immediately following dinner, we headed to the chapel to watch our final team video projects together. All of the videos turned out so good, and we were laughing the whole time! We are thankful for the teams we were with this week and the ways that this project brought us all together.

Then, we had a significant event here at Camp. Three people decided to be baptized tonight in Cedar Lake, witnessed by their friends and family. It was a beautiful and sacred time for Molly, Josh, and Weston. It was incredible to be able to rejoice with them in this occasion tonight!

We wrapped up our last day of Senior High Camp with our final chapel with Nate Miller. He really taught us a lot this week about “living a life that matters.” Now, we are enjoying an epic end-of-the-week campfire at Bass Point, and we are enjoying our last few hours together.

It’s All About the Finish Line

We reached the finish line of this week of Camp, and although the last day of Camp is always full of sad goodbyes, we still rejoiced in the end of a great Super Kids 2.

Our last day of the week featured a video slideshow from the week, some of our favorite worship songs, a love offering for Source of Life Camp in Ukraine, and a final message from our speaker Wendy Gordy. She reminded us how important it is that we have finished the race and won the victory! We ended our closing rally today with PIES flying in the faces of some of our favorite staff members to celebrate memorizing Scripture throughout the week.

We are incredibly thankful for the 200+ kids that were here at Camp this week. We enjoyed great weather, a lot of laughter, and we are leaving feeling filled up by new friendships.

Thank you God for a really great week!

A Thankful Thursday

Our last full day of Camp for the week started with every junior higher’s favorite activity– sleeping in! We are thankful for the extra hour of sleep. After Polar Dip, we had a wonderful breakfast and more time alone with God. Then, in morning chapel, the girls talked about Standing Up for Your Sisters and the guys talked about Work. We have learned a lot in morning chapels this week and they have sparked some good discussions.

After lunch and mail call, we had clinics and seminars once more. The seminars that were taught this week also acted as a catalyst for good conversations and important questions. We are thankful for learning today!

We are also thankful for Free Time today. Today we swam, made crafts, rode the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline, and played a round of Continental Clash (soccer played with a football)! Tonight for dinner, we had another Camp favorite: calzones! We are thankful for these delightful giant pizza pockets.

Tonight in chapel, Nate Temp is finishing his time with the campers by talking about practical ways to live out faith once they go home. We are thankful for Nate this week and the things he has taught us.

We are finishing our last full day with being thankful for good weather as we get ready for our campfire at Bass Point; we’re looking forward to a great night!

Feather Pillows and Pizza Pillows: A Story of Thursday

Last night, God refreshed Camp with a cool rain storm that nourished the grass, flowers, and trees. Campers and staff spent some extra quality time with their pillows this morning as we all enjoyed the extra hour of rest that Sleep-in-day brought us, and we started our last full day of Camp feeling energized.

After the campers rolled out of bed and did the Polar Dip one last time, we had breakfast and morning chapel. Today, the guys talked about the importance of Work and the girls talked about Sisterhood.

After lunch and our last hilarious mail call skit, we had Clinics and Seminars in the afternoon. Campers played basketball, learned how to knit, participated in an improv acting class, or went to various seminars about how to live out a Christian faith. Then, it was free time!

Today during free time, campers rode the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline, went swimming, made crafts, played Mafia, and went boating. Free time was followed by a Camp favorite for dinner: calzones! Big pillows of pizza left everyone feeling full and happy.

In chapel tonight, Phil Campbell wrapped up the series that he has been taking us through all week. We finished talking through Hebrews 12, and Phil gave us encouragement for how to continue to grow in Christ after we leave Camp.

Now, we are getting ready to enjoy our traditional campfire to celebrate the end of the week. We’re looking forward to fun music and praising God together one more time before the campers all leave tomorrow.
