Super Kids Scoop Noodle Challenge

We had a successful first full day with these Super Kids! It was very hot and humid today, which made it a perfect day to enjoy the lake!

We started off our day with the Polar Dip. Campers have the option to jump in the lake each morning this week. After Polar Dip, we gathered at the Amphitheater for flag raising and learning the actions to today’s memory verse (Colossians 3:12). Then, it was time for breakfast.

It was then time to take the whole camp picture! A printed off copy of the picture will be sent home with every camper. For now, check out the goofy picture we took!

Take Camp Home: Can you spot your camper’s silly face?

Then, we went inside for morning chapel. Today, the campers learned the Parable of the Lost Sheep (found in Luke 15:3-7). After chapel, there was a short period of free time while the counselors set up Cabin Adventures! During Cabin Adventures, counselors lead their cabin in an activity, and sometimes cabins join together for their adventure.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what they got to do during their Cabin Adventures this week!

Following Cabin Adventure time, we had lunch, and then it was time for “Story Time with Tori!” One of our staff members led the campers in filling out a Mad Libs story and then had a few counselors act out the story.

Then, it was Toes up Time. During this time, campers go back to their cabins for some quiet time so those who need to nap can do so. After Toes up Time, we played a game called “Camp Lebanon Auction.” In this game, each cabin fills a pillow case with as many items as they can and they get points for having certain items. To finish the game, campers take the items they gathered and use them to dress up their counselor.

After the game, campers were dismissed to free time!

When free time was over, we lowered the flag and then went to dinner.

After dinner, it was time to play “Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge!” This game is new to camp this summer, and it is so much fun to play with the campers. It is a little bit like capture the flag but with more items and a few different rules. With over 200 people playing, it is a crazy game to be involved in, but the craziness is part of the fun.

Now, campers have a bit of free time before they have to head in to tonight’s chapel, which I will talk about in tomorrow’s blog. After chapel, campers will go back to their cabins for devotions and then it will be time for bed.

Super Kid Sunday!

We are so happy that we got to welcome our Super Kids 4 campers today!

Campers checked into their cabins this afternoon and met their counselors. During the rest of check in time, campers had the option to take their swim test while we waited for the rest of the campers to arrive.

Then, we all gathered at the Amphitheater for campers to meet the non-counseling staff and learn who their cabin friend for the week is. Cabin friends are non-counseling staff members who hang out with a cabin for the week to help the counselor and get to know the campers. After introductions, a few staff members demonstrated how to properly lower our country’s flag. Campers were then dismissed for dinner. Tonight, cabins chose somewhere outside to eat dinner as a picnic!

Following dinner, we went inside and learned the camp rules.

After rules, counselors took their cabins on a tour of camp before chapel. In tonight’s chapel, campers were introduced to our speaker for the week, Don Mackay. He shared stories of his missions work and talked about how “in battle” we need our sword and that our sword is the Bible.

Then, campers had free time while staff members set up the Variety Show. Campers got to enjoy a handful of goofy skits put on by staff members to bring our first night to a fun close.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what their favorite skit was!

Now, campers are going back to their cabins to get ready for bed and have night time devotions before lights out.

Going on a Staff Hunt!

Today was another great day here at camp to play lots of games and learn about God!

In last night’s chapel, Darla continued her message about faith. She told the campers that faith is personal and requires a decision, and she shared the message of salvation. She talked about how we were made to have a relationship with God, but sin separated us from Him, so He had to send Jesus to pay the price for our sins in order to restore the relationship. At the end of chapel, campers had the opportunity to pray to accept Jesus as their savior.

This morning, campers had polar dip, flag raising, breakfast, and then morning chapel. In today’s morning chapel, campers heard a telling of the Parable of the Good Samaritan (found in Luke 10:25-37). Then, they went back to their cabins to discuss the story as a group.

Then, campers had some free time before going on their Cabin Adventures!

After Cabin Adventure, it was time for lunch, and then it was “Story Time with Tori!” Tori had another Mad Libs story for the campers to fill out following the journey of the characters we met yesterday.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what the Mad Libs stories were about!

Then, it was Toes up Time to give campers some much needed rest. Once all the campers were up, they learned about the Staff Hunt! Staff members hid around camp, and the campers were released to go find them. If they found a staff member, they got points for their cabin, and they got to push that staff member in the lake!

After all the staff members had been pushed in the lake, it was free time for campers to go swimming, ziplining, play laser tag, do crafts, or other games around camp!

Following free time, we lowered the flag before dinner. After dinner was cleaned up, campers go to go to the “Ye Olde Renaissance Faire!” There were games set up for campers to win tickets. They could save their tickets for cabin points, or they could use some of their tickets to spray their counselor, or another staff member, with the hose!

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what games they played at the Faire. What one was their favorite?

Now, campers have some free time before evening chapel starts. After chapel, there is cabin devotions and then lights out.

Super Kids Storm the Castle

What a beautiful day to get outside and play some games around camp today!

This morning started with the polar dip. Each morning, campers will have the option to jump in the cold lake to wake themselves up. After polar dip, campers gathered for flag raising, and then they learned today’s memory verse along with the actions (Colossians 3:12) before heading into breakfast.

We then gathered to take the whole camp photo that each camper will go home with. For now, enjoy the goofy one we took!

Take Camp Home: Search for your camper’s goofy face!

We then went into morning chapel for worship and a short video teaching the Parable of the Lost Sheep. After the video, campers went back to their cabins and talked about the story as a cabin.

Then, campers had some free time before Cabin Adventure. Counselors come up with an activity to do during this time as a cabin, and sometimes join with other cabins, to get closer as a cabin and have some fun!

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what they got to do for their Cabin Adventures this week!

After Cabin Adventures, it was time for lunch, and then we had “Story Time with Tori!” Our worship leader, Tori, had a Mad Lib story and had the campers fill in the blanks. Then, staff members acted out the story and campers were given their mail. Once mail was passed out, it was Toes Up Time. During Toes Up Time, campers have to be quiet and in their cabins so that those who want a nap can fall asleep.

After Toes Up Time, the campers were taught the game “Storm the Castle,” which is like a medieval themed capture the flag.

Then, it was free time with the waterfront, crafts, laser tag, and zipline open.

At the end of free time, we gathered for flag lowering before supper. After supper, we played “Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge!” This game is also a spin on capture the flag, but with some different rules, and with over 200 campers playing, it gets crazy, but it is incredibly fun.

Now, campers have some evening free time until tonight’s chapel, which I will touch on in tomorrow’s blog. After chapel, campers will have cabin devotions and then they will go to bed.

Welcome, Super Kids 3!

Today was a lovely day out to welcome the Super Kids 3 campers! They checked in this afternoon and had some time to settle in and take their swim test.

Later, everyone gathered at the Amphitheater for introductions of the non-counseling staff members. After introductions, campers learned who their cabin friend for the week is. A cabin friend is a non-counseling staff member who helps out when needed and hangs out with the campers when they have time. Then, staff members volunteered to lower our country’s flag to show the campers how to properly lower and fold the flag, as we will raise and lower the flag every day.

After flag lowering, campers went to dinner, and with their cabins, chose a spot to eat outside and have a picnic meal! Then, we went inside to learn the camp rules.

Following rules, campers went on a tour of camp led by their counselors. Then, it was time for chapel. After worship, campers met our speaker for the week, Darla Benjamin. Tonight, she spoke about faith, and she used her experience skydiving as an analogy of having enough trust to take a leap of faith.

Campers then had some free time while staff set up for the Variety Show. After getting the giggles out, the campers are now going back to their cabins for devotionals and then it will be lights out tonight.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what their favorite skit from the Variety Show was!

Team Time Thursday

We had a chilly day today with some thick clouds and a strong breeze, but that didn’t stop people from daring to get into the water!

In last night’s chapel we talked about Loving God and what that looks like. Kirsten King talked about how we love God by spending time with Him in prayer or in His word, by following His commandments, and by loving one another. She shared some tips about staying in the Word and how that helps us learn to love God.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what TABLE stands for and why we were talking about tables this week.

This morning was sleep in day! We got a much needed extra hour of sleep before starting the day, and cabins were served breakfast in bed today! After breakfast, we had polar dip, TAG Time, and then morning chapel. In women’s chapel, we had a panel with a representative of a male and female who are single, in a dating relationship, and a married couple to answer any questions the girls had. In men’s chapel, they talked about what it means to make a decision for Christ, what it looks like to live that out, and the cost of discipleship.

We then had clinics and seminars, and campers were able to choose from the options they had on Tuesday, or they could also attend a Q ‘n’ A session with Kirsten King!

Following clinics and seminars, we had lunch, and then the mail call video, and afterwards, it was free time! At the beginning of free time, campers had the option to participate in a triathlon. They ran around part of camp, swam from the swimming dock to the fishing doc and back, and boated from the swimming doc, down, and back to the swimming area.

After free time, we had flag lowering, and then we had dinner. Tonight was our formal night, but with a 1920s theme!

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what their favorite theme dinner was!

Then, it was time for the teams to present their projects they have been working on during team time this week.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what their team did for their project!

Now campers are going to chapel, and then they will have some free time before the campfire. In tomorrow’s blog I will share about tonight’s chapel and a little about the campfire activities. It’s strange to think that it’s already our last night of senior high, but we had such a great week!

Volleyball Tournament!

Today was another incredibly sunny day here at camp made for another awesome day to spend outside!

In last night’s chapel, we talked about showing adoration in God’s presence. Kristen King read the story of the Israelites in the Desert after they had been rescued from Egypt. They began to disobey God and question Him because they weren’t thanking Him for His miracles and lost sight of all He was doing for them. Kristen also talked about how God reveals Himself and His glory through His actions and creation.

This morning started with the polar dip, flag raising, breakfast, TAG Time, and morning chapel. In women’s chapel, we heard from one of our staff members Marissa about who she was before committing her life to Christ and how we are not stuck in the shame of our past mistakes, but we are made new in Christ. The men talked about being a man of God and honoring Him in everything they do.

After morning chapel, we had the volleyball tournament! Boys and girls cabins played through a double elimination bracket until one boy and one girl cabin was left. During the tournament, there was a slip ‘n’ slide open to cool off. Then, we had lunch on the North 40 Field!

Once everyone was back from the field, we went inside for today’s mail call video, and then it was free time!

Following free time, everyone gathered for flag raising before dinner. Tonight’s theme was Disney Villains! Staff . members were dressed up as Disney villains and we had some cool and spooky decorations.

Today, we had clinics and seminars after dinner was over. Campers had some new options to choose from.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what they learned from the clinics and seminars they attended this week. Which one was their favorite?

After clinics and seminars, we had an awesome event we call “Campchella.” There was an open mic, a coffee house, games, and more!

Now campers are heading up to chapel. After chapel there will be cabin devotionals and then lights out.

Mighty Mighty 2.0

We had an awesome first full day with the Senior High campers! It was such a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the outdoors and get a little sweaty in all of the games today!

This morning began with polar dip. Each day of the week, campers have the option to jump in the lake as a refreshing way to start their day. After polar dip, we raised the flag and the campers learned today’s memory verse along with the actions.

Then, it was time for breakfast and afterwards, campers were dismissed to clean their cabins and then have TAG Time. TAG Time means Time Alone with God Time. Each morning after cabin cleanup, campers will have time to find somewhere to sit by themselves and read their Bible and pray.

After TAG Time, we split up for Men’s and Women’s chapel. The women heard from one of our staff members Molly, who told them about how she placed her identity in things that did not define her because she didn’t see herself the way God sees her. She talked about how our identity in Christ and who He made us to be and how we should live out a life in Christ. The men talked about purity in all areas of life and what it looks like to be imitators of Christ.

After morning chapel, campers had some free time until we gathered to take the camp picture! Each camper will be sent home with a printed off version of the camp picture, but for now, here is a goofy one we took for fun!

Take Camp Home: Spot your camper and their goofy pose!

Then, it was time for clinics and seminars! This is a time where campers have a variety of different options to participate in. Clinics and seminars are led by staff members; clinics are usually an activity, and seminars are more of a lesson and time to answer questions. Campers had a list of seminars to choose from today that they will also be able to choose from on Wednesday. Tomorrow and Thursday will be a different set of options for them.

Then, it was time for lunch! After lunch, campers watched a video put together by staff members before getting their mail. Once mail was passed out, it was free time!

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what the mail call videos were about this week!

Following free time, campers gathered at the Amphitheater for flag lowering before dinner. Tonight’s dinner theme was the 90’s, and the staff had a blast decorating and dressing up!

After supper, campers got together with their teams to work on their project for the week. The project is to create an infomercial for a random item, but not for its’ intended purpose.

It was then time to head up to the North 40 Field for “Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge.” This game is new to camp this year, and we love teaching it to the campers and getting to play it. It is similar to capture the flag, but there are a whole bunch of items to capture. Also, for today’s round, we mixed things up and separated the playing field into four sections instead of two sides, and with over 200 people playing, it was a little bit chaotic, but in a fun way.

Now campers have evening free time until chapel tonight, which I will touch on in tomorrow’s blog. After chapel, campers will go back to their cabins for devotionals and then it will be time for bed.

Hello, Senior High!

This afternoon, we met our Senior High campers! We are hyped to begin this action-packed week and get to know these awesome campers God has brought here.

After arriving, campers moved into their cabins and met their counselors. They had time to check in, settle in, and take their swim test.

Then, everyone was gathered into the chapel for our opening rally! Campers were introduced to the staff and learned about the camp rules.

They then had Team Time! This week, two cabins are joined into a team to work on a project and win points. Today, they spent their team time getting to know one another, choosing a team name, crafting a team shield, and creating a skit to introduce their team.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what their team name was and the story behind choosing the name.

After team time, we had dinner. Each dinner throughout the week has a different theme for decoration and costumes. Tonight’s dinner theme was an airplane ride.

Following dinner, teams had some more time to work on their skits, and then everyone met at the Amphitheater to watch the skits.

Then, it was time for evening chapel! We had worship, and the campers were introduced to our speaker for the week, Kristen King! Tonight, we talked about giving thanks to God for His presence. We looked at the story of Moses parting the Red Sea (found in Exodus 14) and discussed how the Israelites cried out to God in their time of need and gave thanks to Him for watching over them.

Now campers have cabin devotionals, which they will have every night, and then it will be lights out for tonight.

Mighty Mighty!

Today was an awesome first full day of activities with the Super Kids 2 campers! It was beautifully sunny, so we got to enjoy all of our outside games, and maybe got a little sweaty.

This morning, we started the day with polar dip! Each morning this week, campers will have the option to jump in the lake as a refreshing way to wake themselves up. After polar dip, we gathered for flag raising and learned the actions to one of our memory verses (Colossians 3:12) before heading to breakfast.

Following breakfast, campers were dismissed to go clean their cabins, and then everyone gathered for the whole camp picture! Each camper will be sent home with a printed out version of the whole camp picture, but here is a goofy one we took just for fun!

2018_SuperKids2_Mon11.jpg

Take Camp Home: Find your camper’s silly face!

Then, we had morning chapel where campers heard the Parable of the Lost Sheep (found in Luke 15 3-7). They then went back to their cabins and had some time to talk about the story with their counselors.

Afterwards, campers had some morning free time before going into TAC time. TAC time stands for Theme, Adventure, and Cooperation. There are six different stations, two in each category, that the campers will rotate through during this time each day until they go through all of the stations.

After TAC time, we headed to lunch, and then everyone met at the Amphitheater for a Mad Libs story acted out by a few counselors. Then, everyone went back to their cabins to get their mail and have Toes up Time. During Toes up Time, everyone has to be quiet and inside their cabins so that those who want to can take a nap to have energy for the rest of the day!

When everyone was up after Toes up Time, campers were told about the Staff Hunt! Staff members hid around camp, and campers got to search for them. If a camper found a staff member, they got to push them in the lake!

Then, the campers got free time!

After free time, campers gathered with their cabins at the Amphitheater for flag lowering, and then they were dismissed for dinner.

Then, it was time to play “Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge!” This game is new to camp this year, and we absolutely love playing it and teaching it to the kids. It is similar to capture the flag, but there are a few extra rules and more items to capture. There is a lot going on with how many people play, but that’s half the fun!

Take Camp Home: Have your camper teach you the “Mighty Mighty Scoop Noodle Challenge” battle cry.

Now, campers are enjoying some free time before evening chapel. In tomorrow’s blog, I will talk about the lesson from tonight’s chapel along with some pictures. After chapel, campers will have night time devotionals with their cabins, and then it will be time for bed.
