Super Kids 3 – Day Five

Today was the last day of Super Kids 3!  Parents arrived for the Closing Rally to celebrate the great week these campers had by watching the recap video and slideshow, cheer for those who won prizes for Polar Dip, the fishing contest, and Gorilla Gets the Man.

We sang some fun camp songs at the Steps of Faith, took a Love Offering for two camps in Ukraine that Camp Lebanon has been supporting for years, and we heard another message from our speaker, Jackson, who reminded us of what he had talked about all week!

Then it was time for pies to fly!  Campers who said memory verses all week got to put their names in a bucket for the chance to pie a staff member of their choice.  After pies, we thanked God for a really great Super Kids 3 and said goodbye to these amazing campers!

Super Kids 3 – Day Four

Last night, campers had tons of fun at our epic Super Kids Carnival!  We had carnival games, popcorn, loud music, and even a dunk tank!  Campers got to play games to win tickets, which they could then use to bring their counselor (or another staff member) to the dunk tank, for a chance to throw a ball and dunk the counselor in a large tank of chilly water.  Aside from the games, there was also a slip ‘n’ slide on the field for campers to enjoy over and over again!

In Tuesday night’s chapel, Jackson told campers about the Creator’s plan.  First, campers were introduced to the problem – God’s Creation, US, needed a Savior!  Jesus became a human and showed that He had power over Creation (because He was the Creator!), and then He died to save us on the Cross.  Jackson shared his own testimony of coming to follow Jesus.  The good news of Jesus is called “The Gospel,” and campers were reminded that God loves them and is inviting them to say “YES!” to Jesus!

TAKE CAMP HOME:  Talk to your camper about Jesus, our Creator.  Can they tell you the story of what happened after God created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden.  Read the story together (Genesis 1-3).  Then talk about why we needed a rescue plan.  Ask your camper how God showed us that He loved us – what was His plan?

This morning, campers woke up and some went to Polar Dip, before Flag Raising and Breakfast.  Today, we had french toast sticks, sausage, fruit, and oatmeal for breakfast.  Campers went back to their cabins to clean-up before heading in to Morning Chapel, where they sang more camp songs.  Then it was time for the morning Free Time and Cabin Adventure time.  For the first part of the morning, campers get to enjoy some Free Time, with crafts, BB guns, and all of the Hub games like carpetball, 9-square, 4-square, and Octoball.  Then they group up into cabins for Cabin Adventure, where their counselor comes up with a fun activity to do as a cabin.

Then it was time for lunch.  We had ham & cheese sandwiches, tater tots, salad, and fruit.  Campers then headed inside for a special video skit, which continues the story of the summer-long characters.  Then it was time to go back to cabins to open mail and have some Toes-Up Time before Free Time!

For Free Time today, campers swam, ziplined, laser tagged, and crafted!  For the 4-o’clock Option, some campers played Dodgeball on the sand volleyball court.  Then it was time for dinner – PIZZA NIGHT!  After dinner, we had our last Chapel with Jackson.  Tonight, he talked about how the Creator is still creating!

TAKE CAMP HOME:  Ask your camper to tell you about all the ways that God is still creating.  What are some of the things in Creation that make your camper excited?  Talk about the hope we have because of Jesus – because of Him we have Peace (God is in control), Help (God has the power), and Hope (God knows the future)!

After chapel, campers had a chance to run back to their cabins, put on some long pants and sweatshirts, get some bug spray, and get ready for the hike out to Bass Point for our Campfire!  First, they got some candy at the Canteen and played games on the Hub.  Then they all trekked out together.

We sang some fun camp songs (including the final round of Gorilla Gets the Man), heard another story from Jackson, and went on a Lion Hunt with Bobber Bill.  Tonight is the last night of summer camp for these campers, and they are sure going to have lots of fun together as they get ready for bed and have their last Cabin Devotions.  Parents arrive tomorrow for the Closing Rally!

Super Kids 3 – Day Three

Last night after Chapel, campers played a few rounds of Capture the Flag, with some fun Camp Lebanon twists!  Camp Staff dressed up in costumes and sprayed campers with water.  It was a really fun game to end off our first full day of Camp!

This morning, campers had a delicious breakfast and headed in to morning chapel, before having some Free Time and Cabin Adventure time!  Today is Tie-Dye day, so there were lots of campers tying their shirts & bandanas and making some really colorful creations.

Then it was time for lunch (nachos!) before another Skit time, Mail Call, and Toes-Up Time.  Campers took a little rest/nap break after lunch before coming down to the chapel for a game of Pillowcase Scavenger Hunt.  Before coming back from Toes-Up, each cabin had to fill one pillowcase full of random items from their cabin.  If they had an item that was on the list the staff had made, their cabin got a point!

On to Free Time!  Today was a very busy day on the waterfront and at zipline!  Campers had a great time trying to go upside down on the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline, or jumping off of the high dive on the Raft.

After dinner tonight, campers will go to the Carnival!  The summer staff put together a big event down on the Lower Field and Wiffleball Stadium, with games and prizes and even a dunk tank!  We’ll post pictures and more about the Carnival tomorrow in the next blog post, where we’ll also recap tonight’s chapel for you!  Until then, continue following the story of Camp this week.  Follow us on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.  Don’t forget to download the Camp App for notifications and easy access to Summer Camp info!

Super Kids 3 – Day Two

Today has been a blast!  We started the day with a wake-up bell at 7:40am, for campers who wanted to jump in the lake for our Polar Dip.  Then we raised the flag at the Steps of Faith before having a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast (don’t forget the Camp Lebanon oatmeal)!

Then it was time for the Big Camp Picture!  Here’s a goofy shot:

After the picture, campers headed in to Morning Chapel with Bobber Bill.  Then it was time for some morning Free Time, followed by Cabin Adventures with their cabin groups and their counselor.  Campers did a variety of fun activities together, from playing some games on the Lower Field to coloring bandanas, to going Corcling, to playing 9-square!

Then it was time for Lunch Line-Up.  Lunch today was chicken fingers, mac ‘n’ cheese, salad, and fruit.  Then campers had a fun Skit on the Steps of Faith, where they got to meet our summer-long characters for the first time before heading up for a half-hour of Toes-Up Time in their cabins (where they would also collect their mail for the day).

Then it was time for a Big Game to kick off Free Time!  Everyone trekked up to the North 40 Field for some super fun relay games, involving hula hoops, dodgeballs, and hockey sticks.  These games are always a fun time, and a great chance for cabins to cheer on their teams and get to know one another better.

Free Time was lots of fun, especially at the waterfront.  After all the rain yesterday, it was really cool to see the campers hanging out in the sunshine, splashing each other and sometimes tackling each other on the watermats.

Then we had a delicious dinner of pasta & meatballs, salad, and cheesecake for dessert!  After dinner, it was time for chapel with our speaker, Jackson Standafer.  Tonight Jackson introduced campers to the Awesome Creation!  We learned that God is eternal, and that He created everything (Gen 1:1) out of nothing!  He created in 6 days (and rested on the 7th), and His highest creation is us!  We are made in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27).  Not only that, but God made everything good!

Campers were challenged to thinking about what it means for them that God is the Awesome Creator.  They can remember that God is powerful, that life has a purpose, and that they are each special!

TAKE CAMP HOME:  Read the Creation story with your camper (Gen 1).  Ask them to talk about their favorite day of Creation – what are some things in God’s Creation that make them say “wow!” or “awesome!”  Ask your camper what it means to be made in God’s image.  How do they feel to know that God made them, and that everything He made was VERY good?

After Chapel tonight, campers will have some evening Free Time while the Canteen is open, followed by a fun all-camp game of Capture the Flag (with a few Camp Lebanon twists)!  We’ll share pictures from Capture the Flag tomorrow!  Until then, continue following the story of Camp this week.  Follow us on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.  Don’t forget to download the Camp App for notifications and easy access to Summer Camp info!

Super Kids 3 – Day One

Super Kids 3 has begun!  We welcomed over 200 3-6 graders to Camp Lebanon this afternoon, and we’ve already had a great time hanging out with them.  The campers and staff can’t wait for the week to get started.  Campers got settled into their cabins and met their cabin mates and counselors before heading down to meet the rest of the staff in Main Hall (it was a bit of a rainy Check-In Day).  Then we had dinner (yummy sub sandwiches, veggies, chips, and brownies).

Next, we sang some songs on the Chapel before hearing some of the rules of the week and going on a tour of Camp.  Campers got to learn all about the Canteen, Swimming Buddy Board, and other important Camp landmarks on their tour with their counselor and cabin.

Then it was time for chapel!  In chapel, campers sang some fun Camp songs with lots and lots of actions, and then met our speaker for the week, Jackson Standafer.  Jackson introduced himself to campers by telling them 5 things that make him say “Awesome!”  Then Jackson gave campers an assignment for the week – to look for God’s fingerprint at Camp!

After chapel, campers will have some Canteen time before the Staff Variety Show, where our summer staff put on a bunch of hilarious skits for the campers.  Laughter is a great way to finish off the first night of their summer camp week!

Thank You God for a Great SuperKids 3!

Super Kids 3 came to a close this morning after a wonderful week. Even though it was raining at Camp, we still ended the week on a high note with a wonderful closing rally inside.

During the closing rally, we watched the video show of the week, sang some of our favorite worship songs, took an offering for Source of Life Camp in Ukraine, and we heard a final message from our speaker Frank Lanier. We have learned so much from Frank this week! We also celebrated another session of LIT graduates, and together we prayed for some of our summer staff members that are departing from us today.

What a Wednesday!

The last full day of Super Kids 3 started once again with a refreshing Polar Dip in the lake, followed by flag raising and learning another memory verse! Today, we learned 2 Timothy 1:7. After a tasty breakfast of French toast sticks, we had our first Skills classes for the day. We have had a blast learning about outdoor survival, wiffleball, fishing, canoeing, projectiles, and so much more this week.

Next, we had morning chapel. Today, Rich Olson taught us about the value of prayer and some practical ways to incorporate prayer into our daily lives. We learned a lot! Then, after lunch, we had our final Skills classes.

After Toes-Up Time, we were ready for everyone’s favorite game of the week: the Staff Hunt! All of our staff hid all over Camp, and if the campers found and tagged a staff member, they got to push them in the lake!

Free Time followed the big game. Today, Free Time featured swimming, boating, crafts, a game of Mafia, and of course, more rides down the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline! After Free Time we had our last cabin adventure time, then evening chapel.

Tonight in chapel, our speaker Frank Lanier is wrapping up his message for the week. We have had a great time with Frank, and we are thankful for all of the unique ideas and truths about God and the world that he has been able to teach us this week. After chapel, we will enjoy some Canteen time and get ready for our traditional campfire out at Bass Point!

A Day of Laughter, Popcorn, and Teamwork

The second full day of Super Kids 3 was full of exciting new ways to have fun and a ton of new reasons to laugh and rejoice. We started the day with the Polar Dip as always. This refreshing dip in the lake prepared us for the day! This morning we memorized Colossians 3:12, ate a delicious breakfast, and enjoyed our first Skills classes of the day.

Then, in morning chapel, Laura Orpen as “The Rocket” taught us about what it looks like to be a part of a team and why teamwork is valuable. After morning chapel, we had a tasty lunch of walking-tacos to refuel before our next Skills classes. Next, we had Toes-Up Time to rest before our big game!

Today, the afternoon game was the Mascot Challenge. Campers dressed their counselors up as a cabin mascot using only things that they already had in their cabins. Some cabins even came up with fun backstories for the characters they created, and everyone showed off their hilarious creations in a fashion show!

Next, it was Free Time! Today, Free Time featured swimming, boating, tie-dye, ziplining, and a round of Run & Jump. We all had a blast today! Free Time was followed by a delicious picnic dinner of hamburgers and ice cream.

Once dinner was done, it was time for a cabin adventure, and then the carnival! The carnival is a highlight of the week for many campers. There were a ton of fun games to play, face paint, hair chalk, drawing, POPCORN, and a slip & slide! Also, campers were able to collect tickets from playing the games to add to their cabin points for the week.

Now, the campers are enjoying some Canteen time as we get ready to go into evening chapel with our speaker Frank once again. Chapel has been a lot of fun so far this week, and Frank is able to hold our attention with incredible stories and hearty laughter. We are excited to learn more from him!

Get Your Head in the Game!

The first full day of Super Kids 3 was joyous and filled with new ways to have fun and connect with each other and God. This morning after the Polar Dip, we raised the flag and learned a memory verse together. Today we learned Romans 10:9, and if the campers say it to the counselors this week, they get their names in a drawing to pie a staff member in the face at the end of the week!

After breakfast, we had our first Skills classes for the week. Skills are short classes where the kids learn how to do specific things at Camp, such as fishing, canoeing, outdoor survival, archery, and more. After this time, we had morning chapel together. During chapel today, Kayla Johnson taught us about the Bible. We learned why it’s important, as well as how to find specific verses in it. We learned a lot, then we had more Skills time following lunch.

This afternoon, we played a ton of new games on our lower field. It was fun to learn a bunch of games, and it helped us make friends in our cabins and get to know each other better. After the games, we had Free Time! Today during Free Time, kids were able to fish, swim, go boating, play games, make crafts, and ride the Screamin’ Eagle Zipline. It was a blast!

After dinner, we had another fun game. We played Capture the Flag, and it was a highlight of the day for a lot of campers! This game is fun, competitive, and a great chance to get out all of the extra energy before evening chapel. We are ending our night with chapel with our speaker Frank Lanier. Tonight, Frank is talking about the “second base” of following Jesus, and we’re excited for all the fun stories he’ll share!

Welcome Super Kids 3!

Super Kids 3 is off to a great start today! This group of campers is energetic and ready to have as much fun as possible this week.

We started the week with an opening rally to introduce all of the staff and get to know each other. Then, we had a delicious picnic dinner of hotdogs, veggies, cookies, and lemonade.

AAA_0014

After learning Camp’s rules and having a brief tour of Camp, we settled in to our first evening chapel of the week with our speaker Frank Lanier. Frank started the week off strong by introducing himself, telling stories about when he was young, and laying out his game-plan for the rest of the week. We started off with “first base,” which is making contact with Christ. Frank talked about his own first experiences with Christ, and he also talked about the Woman at the Well in John and her first contact with Christ. We’re excited to hear more from Frank tomorrow night, and he’s excited to hang out with us all week!

Now, the campers are enjoying some Canteen time before the Staff Variety Show tonight. Tune in tomorrow for the first full day of Super Kids 3 fun!
