From Gray Skies to Sunshine!

Before we jump into today, I’m going to fill you in on our evening chapel last night! The campers learned about the breastplate of righteousness and the shoes of peace, and then few volunteers were chosen to help act out the story of Esther.

Take Camp Home: Ask your camper what they yelled during the skit when they heard “King,” “Esther,” “Mordecai,” or “Haman.”

This morning started off with gray clouds covering the sky, which made for an extra chilly polar dip! After the polar dip, we had flag raising outside where a cabin acted as the “Color Guard” to raise our county’s flag and the whole camp said the Pledge of Allegiance.

They then learned their memory verse for the day and the actions to go with it.

Afterwards, we went inside for a yummy breakfast! Cabin clean up followed breakfast, and then everyone met at the amphitheater for the whole camp photo for this week! Each child will be sent home with the nice picture, but we took a goofy one just for fun!

Then it was off to morning chapel where the campers learned about The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (found in Matthew 18:21-35). Following morning chapel, the kids went off to T.A.C. time. TAC stands for Theme, Adventure, and Cooperation. They were split into groups and each group will rotate through the different sessions of each category over the rest of the week.

Take Camp Home: Ask your child what they got to do during TAC time!

Next came lunch time! We enjoyed taco in a bag along with bananas. After lunch, the campers went back to their cabins for toes up time. It’s a quiet time for them to relax and take a nap if they need to. Once the campers were up and ready to go, they learned about the exciting game we had planned for them.

Luckily, the sun peaked out from the clouds just in time for the Staff Hunt! Staff members got to hide all around camp, and once they were hid, the campers had to scour all over to find them!

If they found a staff member, they got points for their cabin, and they also got the honor of pushing that staff member in the lake!

Once everyone had been pushed in the lake, we took a group picture.

Then, the kids got to enjoy their free time in the sun for the first time this week!

After free time, the campers gathered for flag lowering before heading to dinner.

Following dinner clean-up, the campers got to enjoy another cabin adventure set up by their counselor!

Moving on from cabin adventures, the campers went out to the North 40 field for the Ye Olde Renaissance Festival. There were lots of Renaissance-themed games set up for the campers to win tickets.

Along with coloring, facepaint, and cotton candy!

I think the camper-favorite attraction was Sad Counselor. If the campers won 10 tickets, they could turn them in at this station and spray their counselor with the hose.

Take Camp Home: Ask your child what their favorite activity was and what they had to do. Ask if they got to soak their counselor!

The campers are now enjoying some evening free time to wind down after the craziness of the Renaissance Festival before chapel time. After chapel, they will head back to their cabins for devotionals and then lights out after another jam-packed day of fun!
